Cranberry + Pear Relish | Thanksgiving Recipes
I know that it’s pretty easy to go to the store and buy a can of cranberry sauce or jelly. And that stuff tastes pretty good and has always been a staple in everyone’s Thanksgiving, right? What if I told you that you could make an even better tart, spicy, and downright delicious cranberry relish and it would only take you a few minutes more than opening up that canned cranberry stuff. Believe it. Here’s how.
The Recipe
- 1 ½ c. fresh cranberries
- 1 pear, peeled and diced
- ½ c. dried cranberries
- 2 T. golden raisins
- 1/3 c. brown sugar
- 2 T. minced crystallized ginger
- 1 t. cinnamon
- 1/8 t. cardamom
- ¾ c. orange juice
Put all of the ingredients in a saucepan and simmer over medium-low heat for 15-20 minutes until the cranberries has burst and the mixture is thick and luscious. Cool it to room temperature and then it can be stored in the fridge for a couple of weeks. See, didn’t I say it was easy?
