Italian Anise Cookies | Day 17

Italian Anise Cookies | Day 17

Today I'm sharing a traditional Italian Christmas cookie, very different from the normal cookies I make. I'm a big fan of chewy, crispy cookies and usually shy away from anything cakey. I have lovely memories of having Italian Anise Cookies at Christmas time, so I decided to try making this tasty and festive treat. Since I don't have much experience in the cakey cookie domain, I turned to the internet to find the best version of this licorice-flavored baked good. After some research, reading a tons of reviews, and scrutinizing all the pictures I could find, I chose to make the cookies using this recipe from Food.com. I'm happy with the result and suggest you try it out yourself. Continue reading for pictures of the process and more of the end result.

The process starts, as most cookies do, by creaming the butter and sugar together.

Then you add three eggs. More than a normal cookie in my opinion.

Add a bit of flour and you get this stiff dough. Looks a little bit like Pate a choux, but not quite as sticky.

They look pretty much the same going in and coming out of the oven. They should not brown.

Here they are cooled, glazed and with their pretty rainbow sprinkles. Aren't they cute??? #toomuch

A close-up. So yum!

Ready for eating.

More cookies tomorrow. Follow me on social media to find out when that post goes up! Thanks for visiting!
