October 2014: The Round-Up

October 2014: The Round-Up

A little late, but still applicable! October's over and it was filled with lovely things. These are the things liked amongst all I experienced during the past month. And the result of my October Challenge!

FAVORITES

Beauty

  • Seche Vite Top Coat - Dries SOOOOO quick and is very shiny. It chips thought, if you don't have a base coat.
  • Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipstick in Touch of Spice - I'm into mattes recently since I've had a hard time finding a shiny lipstick that stays put. This is a creamy matte that doesn't dry out my lips and this color works particularly well for me. I might even go out and try some of the other shades.
  • NYC Liquid Liner in Black - I'm always trying out liquid liner because I love a good cat eye and amazingly I find them easier to work with that felt tip, gel and pencil liners. This one is great. The formula stays in place when it is dry. The tip is very precise. And it is super black. At $2.99 it is QUITE A BARGAIN.
  • Benefit They're Real! Mascara - I've been testing this versus the Urban Decay Perversion mascara. I really like them both since they add lots of volume and length. I like this wand a bit better though because it's got a cool barb at the end the makes getting the corners and bottom lashes super easy.

YouTube

  • Benjamin Cook: Becoming YouTube - The a thoughtful, carefully crafted and interesting documentary series about YouTube. Benjamin Cook is witty and insightful, yet unapologetically brash and I like that. It definitely weighted to British YouTubers, but with a second series in the works, I'm excited to see where it goes.
  • Hazel Hayes: The Unnecessary Otter Series - Hazel Hayes, you clever, clever lady. You and your amazing cast and crew brought something special and very human to what could have been a one off joke about an inanimate object. I loved it!

TV

  • How to Get Away with Murder - Not your typical lawyer murder show...
  • Marry Me - Not quite as good as Happy Endings, but I'm glad David Caspe and Casey Wilson are back.
  • Jane the Virgin - A telanovella without all the cheese. And a great cast.

Websites

  • PicMonkey.com - I'd be stuck trying to figure out GIMP or working with PPT without it.

THE RESULTS OF THE OCTOBER CHALLENGE

The Challenge was to "Read More."

I'd say I was mildly successful at this challenge. I went through a few spurts of reading, finishing 3 or 4 books in total. I never got to any non-fiction books like I wanted to do, so that is a bit of a fail. I don't feel like an avid reader at the moment, mostly because I'm trying to do a lot, like cooking, blogging, and making videos. So I've got a little ways to go, but life is always a process.

Check me out on social media!
