Yoshi Egg Cereal Treats | Geeky Easter Projects

Yoshi Egg Cereal Treats | Geeky Easter Projects

Today is my first video in a five part series about Geeky Easter treats and crafts. This video will show you how I made delicious Rice Krispies Treats that look like Yoshi's Eggs. Super Mario represent! Watch to find out how to make it. The step-by-step instructions and ingredients are also listed below. ENJOY!

RECIPE (adapted from RiceKrispies.com)
INGREDIENTS
4.5 cups rice krispies/crisp rice cereal
1 cup candy/ mix-ins of your choice (chocolate chips, coconut, crumbled up candy bars, etc.)
10 oz. marshmallows
3 tablespoons butter
2-3 (12 oz.) bags of Candy Melts (depends on the colors you want to use)

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Combine the butter and marshmallows in a large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 2-3 minutes, stirring every couple of minutes.
2. Coat a rubber spatula with cooking spray. Pour the marshmallow mixture into your cereal and mix well until the cereal is coated. Add your mix-ins and stir until combine.
3. Cool slightly then shape handfuls of the mixture into large egg shapes. Let them cool completely on a lined baking sheet. THIS WILL BE MESSY!!!
4. Melt the candy melts according to package directions. I suggest doing this is a disposable piping bag.
5. Cover each egg with a layer of candy melt and then stand them up to set on your tray. They will set within 10-15 minutes.
6. Once they have mostly set dot each with blobs of contrasting candy melts. To prevent drips, I suggest laying each on its side, piping the dots and then letting them set a bit before going on to another side.
7. Eat and Enjoy!
