Scary Movies to Stream for Halloween

Scary Movies to Stream for Halloween

It's gotten super spoopy up here on Heart Says Hey and if you're looking to get into the Halloween mood yourself, I've got a list of a few of my favorite scary movies. All are available on the various streaming services (Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, HBO Go) out there and range from the stupidly campy to the funny yet creepy to the true bone-chilling scarefests. Now you don't have to see all of the zombie movies on Netflix to actually get scared. (Or do because zombies are the best.) Can you watch them all before Halloween??

  • Saw (Netflix) Jumpscares and torture porn are the name of the horror game right now. Thanks, Saw!
  • The Monster Squad (Netflix) Kids fighting classic monsters. It's definitely very 80s, but you know nostalgia is all the rage.
  • Let The Right One In (Netflix) In the time of glittering vampires, this vampire tale is refreshing and scary.
  • Dead Snow (Netflix) Zombie Nazis. Nuff said.
  • Cockneys vs. Zombies (Netflix) In the deluge of low budget zombie films, this one stands apart in its gore-laden humor.
  • Scream (Netflix) The much-copied classic. Accept no substitutions. I'm talking to you Scary Movie and Scream 5
  • Tucker and Dave vs. Evil (Amazon) A funny, gory mistaken identity horror comedy.
  • From Dusk Till Dawn (Netflix) George Clooney, Harvey Keitel, Quentin Tarantino, and Salma Hayek in a Mexican vampire movie. So weird. So good.
  • Night of the Living Dead (Amazon) The classic must-watch zombie masterpiece in the Romero series.
  • The Blair Witch Project (Amazon) I saw this in theaters and once I understood the ending (I was young, come on!) I had nightmares for days. Found footage has never been this creepy again.
  • The Rocky Horror Picture Show (HBO) Do I even have to give you a reason to watch this. It's a Halloween tradition!

Bonus Recommendations: If scary and creepy tv shows are more your style make sure to watch Twin PeaksAmerican Horror Story and the Walking Dead. All are on Netflix. And Ash Vs. The Evil Dead, based on Sam Raimi's infamous Evil Dead Series premieres on Halloween on Starz.

I'm sure there are other great ones out there streaming that I have yet to watch. If I see anything else, I'll be sure to tweet about it, so make sure to follow me! The Five on Friday is coming out... on Friday, but there's more Halloween fun on your way next week!
