25 Days of Christmas

25 Days of Christmas

I have numerous wonderful memories of holiday seasons past. Things like decorating the Christmas tree, shopping up and down Christmas-y streets, seeing the twinkling lights, smelling the delicious baked goods, watching my favorite Christmas movies and specials, like Love Actually, the Muppet Christmas Carol and, of course, Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas have all been holiday staples in my life as far back as I can remember. The excitement of the countdown to Christmas and the stress of trying to make the 25th the perfect day also feature prominently in my memory. All that lead-up, the dreams, the hopes, the emotion, the stress about money; I find the day itself can't possibly live up to the vision, which for some makes Christmas a depressing day indeed. Nowadays the holiday is also tarnished by its relationship to rampant commercialism and intense consumerism. What has happened to you Christmas?

But it doesn't have to be this way.  "Maybe Christmas perhaps means I little bit more!" That line from that very wise man has inspired me. This year I say Christmas isn't just about that one perfect day, the one perfect present, that one perfect meal, that one perfect family moment in front of the fire.  Instead I'll be working on making every day from December 1 to December 25 a celebration of all that this holiday season means.  It's a season of joy, generosity, beauty, hope, contemplation, faith and indeed a lot of fun.

I entreat you, dear reader, to join me on this journey of celebration, of Making the Most of All 25 Days of Christmas. I'll be sharing my adventures here on my Blog in the form of stories, DIY, photos, videos, recipes and other holiday treats. Hopefully I'll be posting everyday, which is a big undertaking, I know. But I'm never more happy than when I'm busy, feeling useful, and sharing things that make me feel joyful, so in the end the hard work will undoubtedly be worth it.

Here's what I've scheduled for the month. Right now I'm planning to post something new every morning at 10am EST. I'll let you know if this changes.

And aren't you lucky. This isn't even the "Day 1" post. That will be posted shortly. Links to all the posts are below.

Tell me what Christmas means to you and how you will be celebrating the whole season using #MoreThanThe25th or connect with me on Twitter, tumblr, Instagram, etc. The links are below!
