January Music Playlist

January Music Playlist

January was so deceptive. It was pretty cold, but there was no snow. Then last week rolled in and we got buried. Literally buried. Multiple times. And there's more on the way. This month's music playlist really reflects how I felt about January. Despite the lack of snow, I was still despondent and dreaming of summer. The music follows suit as some are quiet and sad and some are upbeat, melodic, and perfect for summer dance parties.

Standouts include:

  • "Homesick" by Catfish and the Bottleman - a seemingly reserved tune until you get to the indie rock anthem chorus
  • "When Will We Be Free?" by Young Lions - mostly because the they sounded a little bit like Lifehouse and the title really spoke to me in my cabin fever state
  • "Amy's Friend" by Bombadil - a lovely melodic duet with great lyrics as always
  • "You Haunt Me" by Sir Sly - I don't know why, but I could listen to this song forever.
  • "Together or Not At All" by Murray Gold - this is a super special edition to the playlist as it is actually the soundtrack for one of the saddest yet most hopeful episodes of TV ever, the episode when Rory and Amy left Doctor Who. It's like all the emotions I felt during that hour of TV.
